Man That Got Away Review

07/13/2005 6:54 AM, AMG

This is the third of five ten-track budget compilations culled from The Judy Garland Show TV series of 1963-64. The selections include "The Man That Got Away," which Garland had sung in A Star Is Born, as well as concert staples like "That's Entertainment," "You Go To My Head," "Puttin' On The Ritz," "Who Cares," and "San Francisco," all songs that had appeared on her best-selling Judy At Carnegie Hall album two years earlier. Also notable is "Ol' Man River," a song usually associated with bass singers. Garland is in good voice and performs enthusiastically before Mort Lindsay's orchestra playing arrangements written by Mel Tormé. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
