Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson will
be the honoree at music charity group MusiCares' annual
pre-Grammys bash in Los Angeles on Feb. 11, organizers said
Wednesday.
The 15th annual gala tribute will take place at the
Hollywood Palladium, two days before the Grammys. Both events
are organized by the National Academy of Recording Arts &
Sciences. Its MusiCares charity helps people in the music
industry with healthcare needs.
Previous honorees have included Natalie Cole , Bonnie Raitt ,
Paul Simon , Billy Joel , Elton John and Stevie Wonder.
The once-reclusive Wilson has been back in the spotlight in
recent years, touring and recording solo albums, and earlier
this year completed "Smile," the aborted follow-up to the Beach
Boys' 1966 masterpiece, "Pet Sounds."
Nominees for the 47th annual Grammy Awards will be
announced in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. The awards
ceremony will take place at the Staples Center.
