(6/17/98) - Billy Ray Cyrus was the runaway winner at the TNN Music City News 32nd annual Country Awards extravaganza held Monday night at the Nashville Arena. The award ceremony, which is based solely on votes from country music fans, was timed as a fitting kickoff for Fan Fair Week, which runs Monday through Saturday at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville. Cyrus walked off with awards for Best Video, Best Single, Best Song and Best Album, as well as Male Artist Of The Year. Other notable winners included Lorrie Morgan for Female Artist Of The Year, Brooks & Dunn for Group Of The Year, and Neal McCoy for Entertainer Of The Year. Porter Wagoner was granted the night's Living Legend Award. The event, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, was opened with an uptempo performance from Vince Gill. Other performers included LeAnn Rimes, Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, Deana Carter and Alan Jackson, among others. Presenters included Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Blackhawk, Jo Dee Messina, Pam Tillis and Collin Raye.
