Bob Geldof Gets Custody Of Hutchence-Yates Child

(12/19/00, 3 p.m. ET) - British courts have awarded former Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof custody of Tiger Lily Hutchence, the daughter of his ex-wife Paula Yates and INXS singer Michael Hutchence. Geldof has been caring for the four-year-old girl since Yates, who left the Band Aid and Live Aid founder for Hutchence, was found dead in her Notting Hill apartment in September. Hutchence committed suicide in Australia three years ago.

Geldof petitioned for custody so that Tiger Lily could live with her three half-sisters from his marriage to Yates, while Hutchence's own half-sister Tina Shorr argued unsuccessfully that the child should not be subject to the publicity that is part of Geldof's life in the public eye.
