Sting And Cheb Mami Perform Together In NYC

(8/31/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Sting and Cheb Mami have appeared together sporadically on Sting's Brand New Day tour, and now they'll unite again for two performances in New York City. On September 11, the two will play The Late Show With David Letterman, and the following day they'll perform a free concert at The Meadow in New York City's Central Park. Mami and his 10-piece band will open the show and then the Rai master will join Sting for the hit "Desert Rose."

Mami is currently touring the Middle East, Morocco, Jordan, and Tunisia as part of his world tour. He recently returned to his home of Algeria and played to a whopping 150,000 people.
